The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January-August 2024 amounted to:
– USD 48591.9 million – which was an increase of 3.4% compared to the same period last year;
– EUR 44850.6 million – which was an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period last year.
The value of exports amounted to USD 21011.7 million, which was 1.5% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 27580.2 million, which was 5.0% increase relative to the same period last year.
Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 19393.5 million, which was 1.5% increase, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 25457. 1 million, which was 5.1% increase when compared to the same period last year.
The deficit amounted to USD 6568.5 million, which was an increase of 18.0% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 6063.6 million, which was an increase of 18.3% compared to the same period last year.
The export – import ratio equalled 76.2% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 78.8%.
The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 58.9% of total external trade.
Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 2087.7 million, resulting from the exports of cereals and produces thereof, beverages, oil and oil derivatives, road vehicles, and electricity. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 3202.1 million, while the imports were USD 1114.4 million. The export– import ratio equalled 287.3 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 2955.3 and imports to 1028.6 million (surplus amounted to EUR 1926.7 million and export – import ratio equalled 287.3%).
