Serbia cuts 2024 trade gap estimate

Serbia’s trade deficit widened by an annual 3.8% to 8.541 billion euro ($9.967 billion) in 2024, down from 9.865 billion euro estimated earlier, Serbia’s statistics office said on Tuesday.

In 2024, exports rose by 6.5% on the year to 30.503 billion euro, while imports rose by 5.9% to 39.044 billion euro, the statistics office said in a press release.

Last year, the export-import ratio rose to 78.2% from 77.7% in 2023.

In December alone, Serbia recorded a trade gap of 1.104 billion euro, widening from a 1.071 billion euro trade deficit recorded in the same month in 2023. Exports rose by 10.4% on the year to 2.423 billion euro in December, while imports increased by 8% to 3.527 billion euro, according to revised data.
