Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk reported that bilateral trade between Egypt and Serbia has recently made a substantial leap from $94 million in 2022 to approximately $300 million in 2024.
According to the data, Serbian exports to Egypt totally equaled to around $41 million and Egyptian exports to Serbia achieved nearly $72 million. Approximately $180 million was contributed to the overall trade volume by the services sector, primarily tourism.
Ongoing cooperation between the two countries, including the launch of agricultural tractor manufacturing in Serbia by an Egyptian company in partnership with Serbian investors, was highlighted by Minister Farouk on Tuesday during Serbia’s National and Armed Forces Day celebration.
He spoke about Egypt’s potential as a gateway for Serbian products to African markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement. A converse hope for Serbia’s becoming a hub for distributing Egyptian agricultural products to Eastern European countries, leveraging the existing free trade agreement, was expressed by him.
An invitation to Serbian investors to explore opportunities in Egypt was also extended and by Minister Farouk. In his opinion, the country’s favorable investment climate and incentives designed to encourage foreign private sector participation make Serbia attractive for foreign investors.
