The National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine claims that “Ukrtsukor” has exported 691,800 tonnes of sugar in the marketing year of 2023/2024. Besides, as it constitutes approximately 77% of all exports, a fair share of the exports fell on the EU states. Italy, Bulgaria, and Hungary are among the main consumers of sugar exported from Ukraine, taking approximately 19%, 18%, and 14% respectively, reports Ukrinform.
Outside the EU, the main sugar buyers for Ukraine were Cameroon, with 17% of total exports, Libya (15%), and Turkey (11%).
