Ukraine’s negative balance of foreign trade increased 6.5% to $17.613 billion in January-August 2024 from $16.532 billion recorded in the same period of 2023, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.
Exports of goods from Ukraine edged up 12% and totaled $27.578 billion in the first eight months of 2024 year-on-year, while imports surged 9.8% to $45.191 billion, it said.
The seasonally adjusted volume of exports fell 10.5% to $3.267 billion in August month-on-month, while imports rose 3.8% to $5.977 billion, it said.
The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance was negative at $2.710 billion in August 2024. It was also negative in July, totaling $2.110 billion.
The export-import coverage ratio was 0.61 in the first eight months of 2024 (0.60 in January-August 2023).
Foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 226 countries, it said.
