European Commission spokesperson reports autonomous trade measures for Ukraine

As European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill said, they want to go smoothly from the Autonomous Trade Measures (ATM) currently applied to Ukraine, which are expiring on June the 5, to the previous tariff conditions for Kiev with the help of a special arrangement.
According to Gill, within the next few days, they will discuss with Ukrainian counterparts the compensation that Ukraine could get for losses from the ATMs’ repeal.
He says that the first meeting to address the issue is set for the second half of Monday.
Also, Gill adds that they expect a transitional arrangement “to restore the pre-autonomous trade measures, tariff lines, so basically what existed before the ATMs”.
The ATMs are special preferential conditions granted to Ukrainian exporters to support the country’s economy and ease exports. The EU introduced them in June 2022 to suspend import duties, quotas and trade protection measures with regard to Ukrainian exports.
