Georgian terminals and ports processed 15 562.3 thousand tons of cargo in 2024

Tin total, the ports and terminals of Georgia accepted 1 6831 ships in 2024. General cargo carriers made 38.5 percent of those ships, liquid bulk – 30.1 percent, container ships –22.5 percent, and dry bulk carriers, tugs and specialized ships – the rest of 8.9 percent. 34.0 percent more specialized carriers, 15.9 percent more – general cargo carriers, 6.7 percent more – liquid bulk, 14.1 percent less – container ships and 9.2 percent less – dry bulk were received by the ports and terminals of Georgia in 2024, compared to the previous year.
In 2024, 18.4 percent of the ships arriving at the ports and terminals of Georgia were Turkish, 16.1 percent –Panamanian, 8.7 percent –Liberian, 5.2 percent –Russian and the rest 42.0 of other countries.
Totally, 7.9 thousand passengers were served by Georgian seaports in 2024 (2.4 percent increase compared to the previous year). Notably, the share of passengers entered (51.0%) slightly exceeded the share of passengers departed.
In general, Georgia’s ports and terminals processed 5.8 percent more cargo than in 2024 (15 562.3 thousand tons), compared to the previous year. General cargo made 45.7 percent of freight carried, liquid bulk – 33.6 percent, and dry bulk – 20.7 percent.

Widening free trade agreement between Georgia and Turkey boost the bilateral trade

An agreement to widen an existing free trade agreement between Georgia and Turkey will soon enable Georgian producers to increase export volume to Turkey by 20 percent.
Delegations of both countries met each other to finalize talks about widening the free trade agreement at the final round of negotiations that was held in Turkish capital city of Ankara.
They abolished the quotas set on Georgian lemon, kiwifruit, grape, dry fruit, fruit and vegetable cans, juices and food ingredients, but increased the quotas on honey and livestock animals.
Georgia’s Economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili headed Georgian delegation, while Turkey’s Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci led the Turkish delegation.
According to statistics, Turkey is Georgia’s top trade partner, as trade turnover between the two countries in 2017 attained $1.58 billion.

The minister reports that Egypt-Serbia trade achieved $300m in 2024

Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk reported that bilateral trade between Egypt and Serbia has recently made a substantial leap from $94 million in 2022 to approximately $300 million in 2024.
According to the data, Serbian exports to Egypt totally equaled to around $41 million and Egyptian exports to Serbia achieved nearly $72 million. Approximately $180 million was contributed to the overall trade volume by the services sector, primarily tourism.
Ongoing cooperation between the two countries, including the launch of agricultural tractor manufacturing in Serbia by an Egyptian company in partnership with Serbian investors, was highlighted by Minister Farouk on Tuesday during Serbia’s National and Armed Forces Day celebration.
He spoke about Egypt’s potential as a gateway for Serbian products to African markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement. A converse hope for Serbia’s becoming a hub for distributing Egyptian agricultural products to Eastern European countries, leveraging the existing free trade agreement, was expressed by him.
An invitation to Serbian investors to explore opportunities in Egypt was also extended and by Minister Farouk. In his opinion, the country’s favorable investment climate and incentives designed to encourage foreign private sector participation make Serbia attractive for foreign investors.

Trade between Ukraine and Turkey is to be boosted to $10 bln

As Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said following a meeting with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Kiev and Ankara want to expand bilateral trade and to increase mutual trade from $6.2 billion in 2024 to $10 billion.
According to the State Statistics Service, downfall of Ukrainian exports from Turkey attained 6.8% year-on-year ($2.21 billion in 2024), decrease of imports from Turkey was 10.2% ($4.24 billion). 5.3% of exports of goods from Ukraine and 6.0% of imports were accounted for Turkey last year.
Cereals ($0.65 billion, up 12.7% year-on-year), fats and oil ($0.35 billion, down 56.1%), oilseeds ($0.22 billion, down 31.8%), and ferrous metals ($0.16 billion, up 84.5%) were the main items of Ukrainian exports to Turkey in 11M 2024.
Mostly oil and mineral fuels from Turkey ($0.55 billion, down 7.7% year-on-year), ferrous metals ($0.46 billion, up 28.6%), electrical machinery ($0.23 billion, down 9.3%), edible fruit and nuts ($0.20 billion, up 17.7%), and boilers, machinery ($0.20 billion, up 3.3%) were imported by Ukraine in 11M 2024.
