Bilateral trade relations between Georgia and Japan and the two countries’ cooperation in the fields of energy, telecommunications, transport and more were discussed by the Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Honda Taro on Wednesday.
Davitashvili said Georgia was becoming “more interesting” for Japanese companies as a transit country for connecting with Europe, and pointed out a “great potential” for Japanese investment in Georgia.
He also said the meeting had identified “interesting directions” for cooperation in energy and telecommunications, and pledged to work with specific Japanese companies over the matter.
Georgia-Japan economic relations are developing quite steadily [and] an agreement was signed last year that will promote investment protection and mutual recognition, as well as encourage investment from both sides,” Davitashvili said.
