Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili on Friday emphasised the importance of China as the country’s trade and economic partner and expressed optimism about the ongoing China International Import Expo as a platform for forging business connections for domestic exporters.
Export promotion is one of the key priorities in our country’s economic policy, as reflected in official statistics. Last year, Georgia achieved a record export figure of over $6 billion in products, and this positive trend is continuing into the first three quarters of 2024”, he said.
About 40 Georgian companies, supported by Enterprise Georgia – a state agency promoting entrepreneurship, investment and exports – are using the event to showcase their products, which include a variety of food items, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as light industry goods and leather accessories.
The Ministry, along with Enterprise Georgia, traditionally supports Georgian exporters through a variety of promotional programmes, including participation in exhibitions and other significant events. The Agency offers about 20 international exhibitions each year for local exporters”, Nadareishvili said.
At this year’s exhibition, the Georgian representation has set up three pavilions. In addition to promoting national products, the pavilions also feature displays of the country’s culture and traditions, highlighting its historical significance in wine production and showcasing its visitor attractions.
Running between Tuesday and Sunday, the Expo is expected to draw participation from over 120 countries and attract more than 500,000 visitors and buyers.
