Imports fell 4.3% in the same period
Export surplus of 98.7 billion euros in the first half of 2023
Chemical product imports and exports decreased in value and volume terms
Total German exports rose by 3.3% to 797.8 billion euros in the first half of 2023 compared with the same period a year earlier. Goods to the total value of 699.1 billion euros were imported to Germany in the first six months of 2023. This was a decrease of 4.3% compared with the first half of 2022.
Germany’s foreign trade balance (exports minus imports) amounted to +98.7 billion euros in the first half of 2023, and was therefore more than double that in the first half of 2022 (+41.8 billion euros).
