Serbia is Germany’s ascending key trade partner

A recent study carried out throughout February and March by the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbia) reports that Serbia will have become a net exporter to Germany by 2025, overtaking its imports from the economic powerhouse.
Serbia’s emergence as one of Germany’s top 50 most significant trading partners is a testament to the ongoing investments and strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
A continuous optimism is revealed by the study in the Serbian economy in spite of global economic uncertainties. Bilateral trade between Germany and Serbia doubled in 2022 compared to any other foreign trade partner of Serbia. In 2023 it increased by an additional 13% and reached a record high level of nearly nine billion euros.
Nevertheless, the fact that the percentage of companies satisfied with their business operations in Serbia dropped from 52% in 2022 to 39% in 2024 is also highlighted by the survey. However, the percentage of companies rating their situation as satisfactory increased from 47% to 55% over the same period.
37% of companies planning to increase their workforce in 2024 make employment trends shift down from 44% last year. 40% of surveyed German firms are planning to boost their investments in in the Balkans 2024 due to the economic situation in Germany and other global market uncertainties.
