Vučić: American tariffs for Serbia are 0 percent

President Vučić announced on RTS that as of tonight, the US tariffs of 35 percent have been reduced to zero percent thanks to negotiations.

“The good news is that as of tonight, in our time, the tariffs for Serbia are 0 percent. I believe it will be between 10 and 12 percent, but now it will be 0 percent. This gives us a huge chance,” President Aleksandar Vučić announced during a guest appearance on RTS’s Dnevnik on Friday.

These are the 35 percent tariffs on Serbia that the United States of America introduced on the import of goods from Serbia as part of a broader global policy of reciprocal tariffs initiated by the administration of US President Donald Trump, with the aim of protecting the domestic American economy, correcting trade deficits and putting pressure on numerous countries around the world to conclude bilateral trade agreements under Washington’s terms.

President Vučić did not announce how we deserved the abolition of American tariffs, and RTS did not even ask him to explain it.

Important news

As the media announced earlier today, Serbia had intensive talks with the US administration on trade issues in the previous days.

“This is extremely important news,” said Vučić and added that it will mean more investments, a higher credit rating for Serbia and a good signal to foreign investors to invest in Serbia.

He expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the US administration and to President Donald Trump, for paying attention “to one small Serbia and its president”.
