Georgian exports reach monthly record-high $540 mln in July – PM

Georgia exported a record $540 million of goods in July, marking a 40 percent increase compared to the same month of 2021, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at today’s Government meeting.

The PM’s highlighting of the figure follows numbers from the National Statistics Office of Georgia that showed Georgian external trade turnover amounted to $10.18 billion between January-July 2022, posting a 35.3 percent increase year-on-year.

The value of exports rose by 36.3 percent and equalled $3.09 billion in the reported period, while imports also grew by 34.8 percent, amounting to $7.08 billion.

Trade deficit, a measure of the negative balance of trade in which imports exceed exports, reached $3.98 billion, while the share of trade turnover hit 39.2 percent.
