Vakhtang Tsintsadze, the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia, on Monday said 2024 had seen “record” figures in both exports and imports, contributing to similarly high external trade turnover numbers.
The positive trends in external trade are likely to persist in the coming months, which will greatly benefit the economic growth rate of our country”, Tsintsadze said.
The Deputy Minister emphasised the Government was implementing programmes aimed at boosting the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and fostering local production.
He added with these initiatives, the Government anticipated the growth of economic activity would continue to be robust, ultimately enhancing the overall economic landscape and improving incomes of the population in the coming years.
The National Statistics Office said earlier today the country’s external trade turnover had reached $23.42 billion last year, reflecting an eight percent year-on-year increase.
Exports climbed by 7.8 percent to hit $6.56 billion, while imports rose by 8.1 percent to total $16.86 billion.
