This year, the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes support the majority of imports and a large share of non-agricultural exports. They remain a core trade lifeline for Ukraine.
The latest report from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport claims that a central role in keeping Ukraine’s economy connected to external markets still belongs to the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes, as of February 2026. The EU together with Ukraine and Moldova created the corridors designed to maintain the flow of goods via rail, road and inland waterways after the disruption of Ukraine’s traditional maritime routes in May 2022.
As a result, around 60% of Ukraine’s imports were accounted for the Solidarity Lanes in February 2026, compared with roughly 30% through the Black Sea. Around 60% of Ukrainian exports of non-agricultural products also passed through them, compared with around 50% via the Black Sea. Nevertheless, about 15% of grain, oilseeds and related agricultural products passed through the Solidarity Lanes and 85% through Black Sea ports. So, the balance remains different.
In total, around 209 million tons of Ukrainian export goods have passed through the corridors since May 2022. They estimate that these were 98 million tons of agricultural products, of which around 91 million tons were grain, oilseeds and related products. Also, approximately 111 million tons of non-agricultural goods such as ore, steel and related commodities have passed through the corridors.
Moreover, imports have also been significant. Notably, around 100 million tons of goods entering Ukraine, including fuel, vehicles, fertilizers, military supplies and humanitarian assistance have been facilitated by the Solidarity Lanes over the same period. It general, they estimate total trade via the corridors at around €270 billion in value terms. This includes roughly €72 billion in Ukrainian exports and about €198 billion in imports to Ukraine.
The figures demonstrate the strategic importance of rail, road and inland waterway links as resilient alternatives for the wider European freight market in times of geopolitical disruption. The Solidarity Lanes are also laying the foundation for Ukraine’s longer-term integration with the EU single market, future reconstruction and deeper transport connectivity with Europe.
