In the period from January through June 2026, trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Georgia reached $22 million (30.1% year-on-year increase). In the same period of 2025, bilateral trade equaled to $16.9 million.
Trend’s calculations show that the increase in June helped maintain overall positive growth in bilateral trade during the first half of the year, despite a sharp decline in May. Food products and light industrial goods dominate in Georgia’s exports to Turkmenistan. The largest category consists of poultry meat and by-products. Then follow medical and orthopedic products, pharmaceuticals, and alcoholic beverages. Vehicles, consumer goods, and selected machinery are also exported.
During a visit of the Speaker of Turkmenistan’s Majlis (Parliament) to Tbilisi in February 2026, the countries signed an interparliamentary cooperation agreement. Also, discussions focused on expanding trade, investment, and joint projects in energy, transport, and digital economy sectors took place during the visit of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev in March 2026. Logistics and transit infrastructure, including cooperation with Georgian Black Sea ports such as Poti, got a particular attention. They serve as key entry points for goods imported into Georgia and subsequently supplied to Turkmenistan via Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea. Georgia and Turkmenistan are making efforts to streamline trade routes and reduce logistical barriers. They also want to create more efficient supply chains for Georgian products entering the Turkmen market, including improving port handling capacity, customs coordination, and multimodal transport links.
