According to the Kazakh government, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze have discussed the expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation during talks held in Astana.
In general, cooperation in trade, investment, transport and logistics, energy, and digitalization was the main focus of the discussions. Meanwhile, implementing agreements reached a day earlier during negotiations between President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze got a particular attention.
As Bektenov said, the official visit reflects the dynamic development of Kazakhstan–Georgia relations. He also highlighted the high level of political dialogue, mutual trust, and strong partnership between the two countries.
According to Bektenov, he held substantive talks with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev yesterday. From Kazakhstan’s point of view, Georgia is a reliable friend and an important strategic partner in the South Caucasus and Black Sea region. From its side, the Government of Kazakhstan expressed the intention to further deepen dialogue and practical cooperation with the Government of Georgia.
From the Georgian side, Kobakhidze recognized Kazakhstan as one of Georgia’s key partners. He also pointed to significant opportunities for further expanding bilateral engagement.
As Kobakhidze said, friendly relations historically connect Georgia and Kazakhstan and serve as a solid foundation for strengthening political and economic ties. He added that Kazakhstan is a very important partner for Georgia, and bilateral relations carry special significance for his country. The Minister welcomes the establishment of strategic partnership between the countries and looks forward to broadening bilateral cooperation across all areas.
Also, measures to advance joint projects in priority sectors of the economy were reviewed by the sides. They especially emphasized on technological cooperation and artificial intelligence initiatives.
Moreover, the governments of Kazakhstan and Georgia reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation across promising areas following the talks.
Also, a Joint Statement on establishing a strategic partnership between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Georgia was adopted a day earlier by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the data, bilateral trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Georgia attained $184.5 million in 2025. As of January–April 2026, mutual trade reached $53 million. Moreover, nearly 600 companies with Georgian participation currently operate in Kazakhstan, and 14 organizations are registered at the Astana International Financial Centre.
