Kiev and Ankara are interested in expanding bilateral trade and aim to increase mutual trade from $6.2 billion in 2024 to $10 billion, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said following a meeting with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat.
“Last year, imports from Ukraine to Turkey totaled $2 billion, and the total trade between our countries amounted to $6.2 billion. The overall goal is to raise this figure to $10 billion, in particular, by expanding the already significant trade in agricultural products, as well as other sectors,” Sviridenko was quoted by Ukrainian media as saying in a statement on social media.
The State Statistics Service said that exports from Ukraine to Turkey fell 6.8% year-on-year to $2.21 billion in 2024, while imports from Turkey declined 10.2% to $4.24 billion. Turkey accounted for 5.3% in exports of goods from Ukraine last year and 6.0% in imports. Only China, Poland and Germany have more.
The main items of Ukrainian exports to Turkey in 11M 2024 were cereals with $0.65 billion (up 12.7% year-on-year), fats and oil with $0.35 billion (down 56.1%), oilseeds with $0.22 billion (down 31.8%), and ferrous metals with $0.16 billion (up 84.5%).
In 11M 2024, Ukraine imported mostly oil and mineral fuels from Turkey at $0.55 billion (down 7.7% year-on-year), ferrous metals at $0.46 billion (up 28.6%), electrical machinery at $0.23 billion (down 9.3%), edible fruit and nuts at $0.20 billion (up 17.7%), and boilers, machinery at $0.20 billion (up 3.3%).
