Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Solskyi has paid a working visit to the Republic of Latvia to discuss the possibility of agricultural exports via Latvian ports.
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“As part of the visit, Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Solskyi met with Latvian Agriculture Minister Kaspars Gerhards, as well as visited Riga Free Port, Ventspils Free Port and the Liepāja Special Economic Zone. Solskyi was introduced to Latvia’s port and logistics infrastructure, and discussed the possibility of Ukraine’s agricultural exports via Latvian ports,” the report states.
Solskyi also met with the representatives of Latvian local self-government authorities, port administrations, grain terminal operators and grain traders.A reminder that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has already affected about 25% of the world trade in grain crops and caused a spike in global prices. Ukraine’s grain exports are significantly reducing. At the moment, Russia has blocked dozens of merchant ships loaded with grain at Ukrainian ports.
Latvian President Egils Levits stated earlier that Latvia could help Ukraine with grain exports via Latvian ports.
