The cabinet today approved a draft law cancelling the excise duty on the import of agricultural and forestry tillers and tractors, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
This measure will help enhance the competitiveness, increase the incomes and promote facilities at the exports of agro-food products, which will generate the increase in the level of well-being for the residents involved in the agricultural sector.
Presently, the tillers imported in Moldova, with an exploitation term up to 12 months, are exempted from the payment of excise duty. Instead, those with the exploitation term from 13-15 years are subjected to an excise duty of 10/lei/cubic metre, from 16 to 18 years – 20 lei/cubic metre and from 19 years – 60 lei/cubic metre.
At the same time, at present, the tractors with wheels used in agriculture and forestry, with the exploitation term of up to 20 years, are not subjected to excise duties. Those from 21 to 23 years are subjected to an excise duty of 10 lei/cubic mere, those from 24 to 26 years – 20 lei/cubic metre and from 27 years – 60 lei/cubic metre.
