National Agency for Food Safety set new rules for marketing imported fresh fruits, vegetables

National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) announced on 24 August that an order on application of measures to marketing fresh imported fruits and vegetables entered into force.

“Imported fresh fruits and vegetables, from which samples were taken for the determination of pesticide residues and nitrate content within the monitoring program approved annually by the Agency will be marketed only after the appropriate laboratory results. Until the laboratory results are got, the batches will be kept in the warehouses, registered by the Agency, of the importing economic agents”, ANSA said.

Under the institution, importing economic agents will fill out a declaration on their own responsibility, according to which the products will not be sold until the results of the laboratory analyzes are received.
